LOCATION

Claridge is located between Indiana Avenue and Park Place one half block from the boardwalk. There is a one-way moving sidewalk from the boardwalk to the casino (this also gives access to the Sand next door). There is also a convenient indoor pedestrian 'gateway', leading to/from Bally's Park Place and Wild Wild West Casinos.

The prime midtown location puts guests within easy access of other casinos including Caesar's and Trump Plaza, as well the Ocean One Pier (which is now closed but will reopen as The Pier at Caesars in 2006).

OWNERSHIP

Claridge, which originally opened in 1930, reopened as a casino in 1981. It was acquired by Park Place Entertainment (owner of Bally's and Caesars) in 2001. In December, 2002 The Claridge Casino Hotel joined Bally's Atlantic City as The Claridge Tower, thus creating the largest casino resort in Atlantic City. As a result of a corporate merger in 2005, Bally's (including Claridge) and Caesars are now owned by Harrah's Entertainment Inc.

ACCOMMODATIONS

Claridge Tower offers 500 guest rooms and suites (renovated in 2003). Claridge's 1100 space parking garage is adjacent to the hotel, with direct access to the casino from the hotel (no long corridors or streets to cross).

We stayed in a standard room with a view of Bally's and points south. Weekday check was quick and efficient. The room was good sized (approximately 23' by 15'), included a fridge, two telephones, clock radio, high speed internet access, and a keyboard for accessing the internet thru the tv (fee). The bathroom was small, with a basic formica countertop, and stocked with bottles of shampoo, conditioner, lotion, shower gel, and conditioner.

CASINO

Claridge is the smallest casino in Atlantic City with 59,000 square feet of gaming space, around 1,800 slot machines, and roughly 60 table games. Some might consider its three gaming floors charming and intimate, others clausterphobic. The players club card center is located on the second floor, and self-comping kiosks located throughout the facility allow easy access for checking your account and claiming comps.

DINING

Bagel and Donut Connection - located in the gateway between Claridge and Bally's is a great place to sit and watch the foot traffic go by while sipping on a hot cup of joe and noshing on a donut or fresh-baked bagel.

Garden Cafe - is a 24-hour restaurant with a lounge located on the third floor overlooking the ocean and Brighton Park. The menu includes burgers, deli sandwiches ($7), soup, salads ($10), breakfast dish, a few seafood entrees ($10-15), and other general fare.

Fulu Noodle Bar - a variety of noodles and soups in a quick and convenient setting. $9 per serving.

The Twenties - is a steakhouse supper club with lounge located on the sixth floor.

Wok and Roll - serves Asian cuisine for lunch and dinner on the second floor. Most meals are priced around $7. Combo platters including two items plus fried rice or lo mein for $7.50.

ENTERTAINMENT, RECREATION, SHOPPING.

The Palace Theater - hosts stage shows and headline entertainers.

Pool and Spa - and indoor heated pool is located on the eighth floor. There is also a cardiovascular room. sauna, steam room, whirlpool, Nautilus, tanning, and free weights.

Claridge Gift Shop - is open 24-hours (in lobby).
