Tropicana Atlantic CityLOCATIONThe Tropicana is located on the Boardwalk between Iowa and Brighton Avenues. This places it down beach, roughly equal distance (five blocks) between the Atlantic City Hilton (which is the southern-most boardwalk casino) and the Boardwalk Convention Center.
OWNERSHIP
The Tropicana opened in 1981 and is own by the Aztar Corporation (NYSE: AZR), which also owns the Las Vegas
Tropicana, as well as riverboat casinos in Missouri and Indiana.
We stayed in the South Tower, which gave us a view down the Boardwalk and beach towards
the Hilton. This was before the renovations, so it was a pretty basic room and did
not have any fancy amenities, it was clean and comfortable, and priced right.
There was HBO and the usual pay per view movies and video games, but no data port or internet.
The bathroom was also pretty average, and was stocked with bottles of shampoo and lotion.

The Salon - located on the first floor, unisex, offers facials, tanning, manicures, and pedicures.

Meetings - function space includes ballrooms, exhibition center, and breakout rooms.
Professional catering is available.
Tropicana clearly puts an effort into developing unique and fun promotions and gaming options
designed to appeal to a wide audience and set itself apart from the local competition. There
is always some new reason to check out the Tropicana Casino. For example, one promotion allowed Diamond Club card holders to
play tic tac toe versus a real live chicken for a $10,000 prize. Today, Tropicana's slot floor
features The Amazing Cash Contraption and Fortune Dome Slots, which are two
very popular attractions.
The casino, which is on two levels, is composed of several different theme and game areas.
In Fun House Slots area, players win tickets good towards prizes. Other areas are centered
around a particular promotion, such as the Fortune Dome slot room where players can win an
opportunity to step into the futuristic Dome and grab at dollar bills as they fly by in the
swirling breeze. Other areas include the Penny Pavilion, The Crystal Room (high limit slots),
and a large video poker section.
At the heart of all these promotions is the Tropicana's slot club (Diamond Club). The club offers same day cash back, and helps the casino
send players appropriate offers (free gifts, food, rooms, etc).
